Service Navigation
- Usually the first service provider you meet when you come to the centre for help.
- Assesses physical, social, and emotional needs of clients.
- Helps to problem solve, identify service options and direct clients to the right service
provider, referral agency or resource.
Community Health Nurse
- Helps people of all ages with their health needs.
- Talks to people about their health and ways to stay healthy for life.
- Refers people to others on the health care team to ensure the best care.
- Provides home/clinic/community resource visits.
Adult Community Mental Health Worker
- Helps people who are dealing with issues such as depression, anxiety, stress/coping, trauma,
schizophrenia, and others.
- Provides assessment, treatment planning, counselling and referrals.
- Clients must be an adult, live in Brandon (or close by), and be requesting help.
- Clients can be self-referred, referred by someone else, but potential clients must agree to the
referral.
Community Social Worker
- Works with individuals and families with complex needs to ensure everyone is working together
for best progress.
- Encourages communication and cooperation.
- Provides short and long-term counselling as needed.
- Provides longer-term support, problem solving skills and goal setting.
- Available to anyone in the community needing social work services who are not already connected
to a case manager.
Community Addictions Services (AFM)
- In partnership with the Brandon RHA, AFM provides help and support for adults/youth and their
families who are dealing with an addiction to alcohol, drugs, and/or gambling.
- One-on-one or group sessions are offered.
Housing Resource Worker
- Helps clients to find decent, low-cost housing in Brandon and secure required household
supplies.
- Works with other agencies to assure supports are in place to help individuals to be successful
tenants.
- Advocates for improvements in rental units.
- Is a liaison between tenants and landlords.
Cultural Facilitators
- Within health care, provides language support interpretation for individuals who speak Amharic,
Chinese, Spanish, Russian and Ukrainian.
- Organizes informational and cultural education opportunities for the immigrant
communities.
- Offers Cultural Awareness information to service providers.
Supports to Services in Group Living
- Available in Princess Park, Princess Towers, Kiwanis Court and Winnipeg House apartments.
- Geared towards elderly and young disabled persons.
- Helps individuals maintain independent living.
Supports to Seniors at Home
- Available for those living in the community within the City of Brandon.
- Geared towards elderly and young disabled persons.
- Helps maintain seniors independent living.
Mental Health Peer Support Educator
- Provides peer support to anyone receiving mental health services.
- Provides education to promote positive mental health and build self-esteem.
- Conducts workshops for individuals and groups as employment initiatives.
- Provides one-to-one peer support.
Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP)
Taxes prepared by a volunteer, free of charge for families with an income less than
$35,000. The program provides two tax services:

March through April 30, clients can sit down with a volunteer, to have their taxes
done.

May to September, clients drop off their tax forms and a volunteer prepares them off
site.
- All tax returns are sent by e-filing.
YWCA Family Violence Outreach Program
- Provides family violence information, resources and referrals to YWCA programs and other
resources in the community.
- Family violence education and prevention training for public and professionals.
Other Available Services

Shower
- Clients needing help to shower are asked to bring a helper with them.

Washer and dryer for those that need to wash a few loads, and don't have
access to this service.

- free phone for outgoing calls and private voice mailboxes available.
