Background
The Westman Breast & Women’s
Cancer Network is a group of health professionals, breast cancer survivors and community partners.
Together, we work to improve the care and services for individuals who are at risk for or who are
living with breast & women’s gynaecological cancers in the Brandon and Assiniboine regions.
We began as a Brandon Regional Health Centre Steering Committee in 1998. From 2001 to date we
have offered activities within the Brandon and Assiniboine RHAs (Westman) focused on breast cancer
awareness and education, links to resources, information and support. Examples include:
- Healthy Choices Healthy Women
- Community Contact Program
- Link to Pink
We are linked to a wide range of breast health and breast cancer care services including:
screening, diagnosis, treatment, rehabilitation, and palliative care.
Local community partners include: Canadian Cancer Society, CancerCare Manitoba Breast Cancer
Centre of Hope and Waves of Hope Breast Cancer Dragon Boat Team.
Since 2002 we have been a part of the Manitoba Breast & Women’s Cancer Information &
Support Network, which was formed through CancerCare Manitoba’s Breast Cancer Centre of Hope.
Through this network, we are linked to a variety of Manitoba stakeholders who are involved with
breast & women’s cancer advocacy, research, education, and support.
