AdmissionPlease report to the Admitting/Patient Registration desk located in the Emergency Department Waiting Room on the west side of the hospital. Bring your Provincial Health Services Card, and any other insurance covering hospital care (e.g. Blue Cross cards). Tell staff at the Admitting/Patient Registration desk before you are admitted if you want a semi-private, or private room. All patients being admitted or having treatment in the hospital will be asked if they have been admitted to another hospital in the past year. If you bring any valuables or personal things to the hospital, you will be asked to sign a form for release of responsibility, as the hospital cannot be responsible for articles left at the bedside. Discharge InformationThe health care team begins planning for your discharge from the time you are admitted to the hospital. If you may have problems caring for yourself on discharge, please tell the admitting nurse your concerns. You should consider your home situation and the amount of family support you will have. A STEP (Short Term Emergency Project) nurse may visit you in your home to give you care after you are discharged. Also, a nurse from Home Care is available five days a week to arrange any long-term care that you may need when you go home. Brandon RHA Home Care Services can be reached by calling the Home Care referral line at 578-2339.
