ICU provides critical care and treatment to patients that have a life threatening condition. The ICU team is responsible for the care of patients during their stay in ICU. The ICU team includes doctors and nurses with special training, health care aides, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, unit clerks, physiotherapists, dietitians, occupational therapists, social workers and spiritual care givers. Doctors are often available to discuss your loved one’s progress. Please ask the nursing staff to make arrangements to speak with the doctor. When a very ill patient does not respond to medical treatment, and death is likely, we offer care and comfort to lessen suffering, and to allow for a peaceful death with dignity.
