Pre-Op Assessment Clinic If a surgeon decides that you need surgery, you may be required to be seen at the Pre-op Assessment Clinic (POAC). A nurse and anaesthetist will review surgical booking forms, family physician physical history and other appropriate test results that may have been completed by your family physician. If the anaesthetist feels it is necessary, you will be contacted to arrange an appointment at the Pre-op Assessment Clinic (POAC) prior to your surgery being scheduled. Some surgeries also require a one-hour teaching session with a POAC nurse. This may be arranged for the same day as the anaesthetic assessment. After review, and/or when you have been okayed for surgery, your chart is sent to the booking office and you will be notified of your scheduled surgery date.
