Fairview Volunteers

Fairview Home provides programs, services and skilled staff, in a caring atmosphere, to deliver optimum care to individuals in need. Programs meet the special and changing needs of residents and maximize health and independence. Fairview has five units and each unit has both morning and afternoon recreation programs in the main lounge, the dining room, and the north lounge.

We have an organized Volunteer Department, which recruits and coordinates individuals from community. Any interested persons from ages from 12 and up may apply. Volunteers enhance diverse programs in the home, which contributes to the comfort, happiness and well being of the residents. The utilization of the volunteer program enriches the lives of the residents and the people of the community in which the home is located.

Volunteer Responsibilities:

To register and attend an interview with Volunteer Services.
To be willing to learn and take part in orientation and training sessions.
To be committed to the job at hand: punctual, dependable and sincere.
To be enthusiastic.
To maintain the integrity of the home and respect all confidences of the home and residents.
To use patience, tact, courtesy and compassion to build good relationships with residents.

Expectations and Rights:

To be well informed about the home and its policies.
To be assigned a volunteer responsibility, which is considered meaningful and meets your needs.
To be given on-the-job training and continuing education.
To be recognized and treated as a co-worker and as part of the team.
To be given sound guidance and supervision.
To be heard and receive regular evaluation of performance.

Volunteer Opportunities:

Recreation Programs such as bingo, arts/crafts, ceramics, card program,

knitting, rhythm band, yoga, pub night, supper club, Bible group, pet visits

sing a long, men’s club, ladies club, Saturday afternoon programs

Others areas such as library cart, tuck shop, escorts, nursing, nutrition services, housekeeping, hairdressing, maintenance, business/computer, Adult Day Program, spiritual programs, friendly visiting
