What is CATC?
The Child and Adolescent Treatment Centre (CATC) provides Mental Health services to
children, adolescents and their families. Services include: mental health assessments and
treatment, crisis stabilization, individualized treatment plans, individual, group and family
therapy, and mental health education/promotion. Clients requiring involuntary treatment may be
directed to Winnipeg resources.
Who Works at CATC?
The staff includes Child/Adolescent Psychiatrists, Psychologists, Social Workers,
Registered Psychiatric Nurses, Teachers, an Occupational Therapist and Psychiatric Nursing
Assistants.
Who Can Recieve Services from CATC?
Community, Day Program and Education services are available to residents of the Brandon
Regional Health Authority.
The Crisis Stabilization Unit and Early Intervention Service provides treatment and
consultation to residents of the Brandon, Assiniboine, Central, and Parkland Regions.
Consents: Clients 15 years of age and under must have the consent of parent or
guardian to become involved with treatment at CATC. Clients 16 years of age and older, are able to
provide consent independently.

Day Program
Treatment is provided through individual and group therapies, focusing on
self-esteem, social skills, communication, anger management, life skills and leisure skill
development. Families are part of the treatment process and parent education and intervention is
provided. Program staff also work in cooperation with school personnel and other involved agencies
to provide the most appropriate treatment for each individual.Clients are transitioned to community
school on completion of the program.

Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU)
Provides 24-hour care to clients in crisis from Brandon, Assiniboine, Central and Parkland
RHAs.Treatment focuses on alleviating the crisis and returning the client to the community.
Services provided include: multi-disciplinary team assessments, individual treatment, group and
family therapy, community transition and consultation with community resources.The involvement of
families is very important to treatment and parents will be provided with education, and additional
resource information as necessary.

Education
CATC can provide for the educational needs of clients involved in the Crisis Stabilization
Unit and Day Treatment Programs. This may include academic assessment, individualized education
planning, transition to community schools and consultation.

Early Intervention Services (EIS)
is a community service for individuals ages 15-30. The overall goal of EIS is to
improve the mental health and quality of life of young people with psychosis and bi-polar disorder
(BPD) through early identification and treatment. EIS includes assessment, treatment, individual

Community Services
Clients are seen on an appointment basis. Services are accessed through the Intake
Workers, through phone contact and appointment. Walk-in services are also provided.
