What is MHSE?
Mental Health Services for the Elderly (MHSE) is a team of mental
health professionals. They have special training and experience in working with elderly people
who have mental health care needs.

Why should I contact MHSE? You or a family member can recieve an
assessment, consultation and care for mental health problems commonly
associated with aging. These may include:
depression, d
ementia, a
nxiety or other
psychiatric conditions.

What does MHSE do?
1. Community Resource Team (CRT):
We provide the following within the Assiniboine and Brandon
Regions.
2. Community and Residential
Support (CaReS):
We provide the following for people who are at risk for relapse of
their
psychiatric illness in the Brandon Region
What happens when someone is referred? S omeone will contact you to gather some additional information. An appointment will be set up for you to see one or more members of our team. What about confidentiality? The Personal Health Information Act (PHIA) requires that all information is kept confidential. We will share information with team members from MHSE or with other health care providers, who are directly involved in your assessment, treatment or ongoing care. Information may also be shared when we believe there is a risk to either your or to the public's health or safety. Your questions about the sharing of information can be discussed with an MHSE team member. Service is provided to elderly clients in the Brandon and Assiniboine Regional Health Authorities.
Clients are seen within or as close to their own home as possible. All services are confidential and free of cost.
