Healthy Beginnings sessions focus on prenatal and postnatal well-being. They are friendly and informal gatherings that will connect you with other moms and moms-to-be. A Healthy Baby Facilitator, Nutritionist, Public Health Nurse, Families First Home Visitor, and an Outreach Worker facilitate the sessions. Guest presenters are invited on a regular basis.
- Enjoy nutritious snacks; try new recipes and learn about nutrition, health and parenting
- Do activities with your baby, visit with other moms and moms-to-be
- Ask questions about your pregnancy or your baby's development
- Family members and support people are welcome
- Bus tickets and onsite childcare provided, if needed
- Milk coupons are provided to prenatal moms-to-be and mothers with babies up to six months of age
In addition to the community support program we can help you apply for the Manitoba Prenatal Benefit. All Manitoba women who have a family income less than $32,000 are eligible for this monthly supplement beginning in the 14th week of pregnancy. Healthy Beginnings sessions are open to pregnant women and mothers with children up to 1 year of age.
