How do you Test for STI’s?

Swabs/ Urine Sample
Chlamydia, Gonorrhea and Tichomoniasis can be detected by a swab or urine sample.

Blood Test
Hepatitis B and C, Syphilis and HIV can be detected by a blood sample.

Pap Test
HPV can be detected by having a pap test.

Visual
Genital Herpes, Genital Warts and Crabs can be detected visually.
What is the Time Frame for Testing?

1 Week
Gonorrhea and Crabs are detected by testing about 1 week after you are infected.

1 Month
Chlamydia, Trichomoniasis, and Syphilis (6weeks) are detected by testing about 1
month after you are infected.

3 Months
Hepatitis B and C, HIV and Syphilis can take more than 3 months after infection to be
detected by a test.

6 Months
HIV and Hepatitis B and C can take up to 6 months after infection to be detected by a
test.
