Grant Guidelines
The funding priorities of the BRHC Foundation are as follows (in descending order):
- Medical equipment within the BRHC and other services provided by the Brandon RHA
- Educational opportunities that enable medical staff to stay current with new techniques and treatments
- Program development or research within the BRHC and other services in the Brandon RHA
- Programs in the community that focus on health promotion and disease prevention. Health promotion may be defined as “individual lifestyle strategies that have a powerful influence over one’s health prospects”. Health promotion is accomplished through educational, community-based programs that enable people to take actions and adopt behaviours that will give them better control over their own health
Priority will be given to applicants in the following order:
- Brandon Regional Health Centre
- All other programs and facilities within the Brandon RHA umbrella
- Local organizations not receiving financial support from the Brandon RHA
- Provincial and national charitable organizations
Applications for program funding must be for one-time projects that will be completed within a finite amount of time. Funding will not be granted for on-going programs or staffing costs.
Requests from within the BRHC/Brandon RHA must be submitted to the VP responsible for that portfolio for signature. This is to ensure that the equipment purchase or program:
- is approved for use and is part of the operational plan for the facility/program
- is a priority or high need item/program
- is not a duplication of service or in conflict with the purposes of another
program
- will make a significant difference to people served
Organizations in category 3 or 4:
- must submit a completed Grant Application form (outside Agencies) - available from Foundation office
- must demonstrate a strong and committed board, fiscal responsibility and effective management
- must establish there is a need for the project
- must comply with the reporting requirements
While requests from local, regional, provincial or national charitable organizations will not normally be rated highly, requests for matching funds will be given serious consideration.
